No sleep, not good…

Well, we finally had our own room last night and I was so hopeful Carter was going to have a good sleep (and me too), but that didn’t happen. Carter was really restless from 8pm-1am, so I finally asked the nurse for the anti-nausea drug that knocked him out a couple nights before...big mistake! It had a reverse reaction on Carter. He was so hyper and could not settle down. I thought I was going crazy. Poor guy, at around 5am he threw up and finally went to sleep. We slept until about 8:30 or 9ish, so definitely not the 12 hours of sleep he is used to at home. Needless to say, the pharmacist at the hospital took that drug off Carter’s list, so we shouldn’t have that problem again.

Carter mostly laid low today, watching Yo Gabba Gabba and Wow Wow Wubbzy movies over and over again. We did go around the oncology floor for a couple stroller rides, so Carter could say hello to all his new friends. The oncologist came to talk to us and told me Carter is doing very well with the chemo drugs and they are pleased. So, that’s reassuring. He did eat a couple bites of waffle and some applesauce this morning and two bites of quesadilla for lunch, but still doesn’t have much of an appetite. He talked to Dad and Bennett on the phone today and was so happy. I know he misses them SO much. Matt is feeling better and we’re hoping he can go to the hospital and be with Carter tomorrow.

Thank you and thank you again for all your words of encouragement!!! I don’t think you know how much we need it! It’s nice to know that no matter how much time or distance has passed between us and old friends, you all are around to give us support! And the support from friends of friends is amazing as well! We keep letting Carter know we are so proud of him for being such a brave boy and so many people are cheering for him! My mom sent me home tonight to sleep (THANK YOU MOM!), so I’m in the guest room away from Bennett and Matt just to be extra cautious. Hopefully, we ALL get a good rest tonight!
