Bath night…

Both boys woke up at 5:50am and were ready to play for the day. It’s so nice when Carter is feeling well and wakes up happy…we just wish it wasn’t quite so early. The advantage though is that Bennett and Matt were at the donut shop by 6:50am. Carter was so excited when they got back he immediately dug into three donuts. He just had a little of each one, but he attempted. We’re just letting him (and us) live it up before post-transplant diet restrictions evolve. After breakfast my sister called and made me get out of the house and get some fresh air. I was so happy she made me do it. We went on a nice walk around Balboa Island. If we can’t go on a vacation, it’s at least nice to watch other people at the beach on vacation! Then, I came home and the four of us had lunch together before Bennett and Matt headed to the pool. And since Carter’s counts have been so good this week, we followed them there and watched them swim for a little. We can’t wait for Carter to be able to swim again. We decided we were going to let him have a regular bath tonight (instead of a sponge bath) because it was okay if his IV got a little wet, we needed to do a dressing change anyway. Carter wasn’t nearly as excited about this as we thought he would be. In fact, he was crying and scared. This was not a good start to an evening of having to do a dressing change of his central IV line. Needless to say, we got through it an hour and a half later. One of these days baths will seem like the norm again, and not quite so scary.
