Carter + DJ Lance = Awesome!
It’s just so nice to be home with the four of us all here. We had a pretty leisurely Sunday morning. Then, I got to go to lunch with a few good friends and celebrate Baby #3! In years to come he will read this journal we have kept through Carter’s fight and think we were not excited about his arrival. This is not the case at all. Our family just has a lot to accomplish before he comes into this world! And the day he gets here will be a very special and much-needed joyous day for all four of us! Carter will be a great big brother because it is just in his nature to be sweet and caring…and of course, he’s had an amazing example of a big brother in Bennett.
Carter has always been such an easy-going and very sweet little guy. A couple weeks before he was diagnosed my Mom said to me (as she was scratching Carter’s back on the sofa), “Just make sure Carter doesn’t get forgotten about and stuck in the middle of two brothers once this baby is born.” This brought tears to my eyes because I was sad to think about this adorable little angel ever getting forgotten about. Little did we know what lie ahead and how our whole world would revolve around Carter and his care. He will never be forgotten about, with or without this ordeal. I sent an email to my Mom today thanking her for her help and telling her I loved her. She responded back, “I love you more.” And I understand that now with my kids. We would do anything for them! You never knew you could love something so much before being a parent, especially when your child is faced with so much adversity.
Aw Kara you are lucky to have such a wonderful monther. She has always loved all three of you so much. It makes me happy to read about all the things you do for your boys...it is so much like your Mom. You are a selfless, caring Mommy that is fighting for her childs life. You and Matt are doing such a great job and we are all so proud of you. This new little brother will probably be really mellow and easy going because he will have to be. You will get through this and look back at it as a distant memory...it is hard to think like that now but God is good and will bless Carter with a full recovery. Big hugs and I am so happy you had such a kick back weekend. Yahoo! xoxo Cindy and John
ReplyDeleteAh Moms and their babies. Carter has secured his space - never to be looked over. You'll just be so very thankful to have all three boys loving you at the end of this. Baby brother will be so lucky to have two BIG brothers help him learn the ropes. Nothing is worth more in this world than the loving bond of family. XOXO Daralyn
ReplyDeleteKara, you and Matt are such amazing parents and all three boys are so lucky to have you as their mommy and daddy! I am so excited for new baby's arrival and I'm glad that you guys got to have a nice family day on Sunday. You are right, nothing is stronger than the love of a parent and all of your kids are so lucky that they have you to protect and watch over them. Never underestimate the power of a mom! Take care and know you are in my thoughts and prayers every single day!

Kara-
ReplyDeleteI remember "learning" that truth about parenthood with my first--I have so much love for my two kids, it made me realize that is how my parents feel about my brothers and I. It's overwhelming at times--how much love we feel for these beautiful little people, isn't it?
One thing I heard this week and reading your blog made me rethink it. Becoming a parent and having that amazing and unconditional love for your children, that is how God feels about us--each and every one. (Probably times a million or so too!) So, know that as much as you and Matt love Carter--God feels the same and is watching over you all with the same loving care and tenderness (though I'm sure at times, it doesn't feel like it!)
Take care, you're in my thoughts and prayers and daily.

"...and the greatest is love". The bond between lucky parents and kids is tough, most resilient, gentle, powerful, rewarding and everlasting. What blessings we are for each other! (Your mom and sister are some very special ladies!)
ReplyDeleteSo happy you all had such a wonderful day and your new little guy will be such a new bundle of love and fun for his two big bros!
Love, Jan and Jack
God knew what He was doing when He gave you Carter...He knew you & Matt were the best parents around for such a wonderful angel who needed extra care. Bennett & Carter are so blessed to have such loving parents as you...and wee one has no idea but soon will. Such a loving extended family that rallies around in a pinch...many blessings to grandmas & grandpas, sisters & brothers, & friends!
ReplyDeletePraying the Shout of the King over your family's health, finances, provision, etc. When God shouts & the Lion of Judah roars the devil runs to the phone booth to dial 911! I know when this wee one is born there will be yet another party in heaven like there was for Bennett & Carter. Many hugs and blessings!
It's so true about having an unbelievable amount of love for your kids and there's no way any one of them would be forgotten. I thought that when #2 came and each little baby just finds their own way to fit in and every new thing that little one does is just as exciting as the first time you saw it with #1. It's truly a love we are so blessed to have. Both boys will be so good with baby #3!

Totally tearing up. I think this is my favorite post to the blog so far. For too many reasons to write...just really hit home with my heart.
ReplyDeleteSo much Love and Hugs to you Kara. You (and your little man) are a daily inspiration to me! XOXO
