Happiest Place on Earth

We were lucky enough to receive Disneyland tickets that needed to be used by tomorrow, so Bennett and Matt got to spend the day at the “happiest place on earth”. Thank you Terra!!! It was great for Matt to do something special with Bennett. This is especially nice because we have a feeling Carter’s liver transplant is right around the corner, and Matt and I will probably see Bennett on a very limited basis for three weeks. It makes me sad just thinking about it. Then, once we get Carter home, he’ll be back in the hospital for round 5 of chemo a week later. And a week after that, we’ll be bringing home a new baby. So, Matt and I will be pulled in all different directions over the next two months. It’s nice to sneak in this quality time with big brother while we can!

We just wanted to thank everyone again for all of your support. It amazes us on a daily basis. Matt just pulled up a map on our blog the other day and it shows where in the world Carter’s story is being followed. We have good thoughts and energy for Carter coming from 6 continents, 13 countries (including Australia, South Africa, Iran, Bolivia, Costa Rica, etc.), 41 of the United States, and 173 cities in the State of California. Wow!! And 400-500 people read about Carter and his battle with hepatoblastoma on a daily basis. Okay, I’m crying. You just never think so many people would care about your little boy! Carter will conquer this disease, and Matt and I will have so many people to be grateful for cheering our family on along the way. It’s still surreal that this is happening to us and our child, but we know we must have been chosen because we can handle this. And we will do whatever we can in the future to help guide other families through this crisis.

  1. Kara, you have such a way with words...it touches my heart. I agree that you are going to get a call very soon that a liver is ready for Carter. It will be the perfect match and it will go smoothly with no drama. Bennett is so darling and how special to spend the day with Dad at Disneyland. He has so many people that adore him...you don't have to worry about him while you are caring for Carter. I am praying for a liver...oh not on Sunday because we are playing golf with your Mom and Denny...just kidding. Any day is perfect! Big hugs to all the Kipps xoxo Cindy and John

We are all here to support you and everything you need to do throughout this difficult time and also in joyous times to come!! We have many others around us here in Seattle that are always asking about your family and Carter's progress so probably even more people than you can count right now, but the following of supporters you shared was amazing! You all deserve it and we keep you in our prayers daily~ Hoping for a transplant so soon.

  11. The MOPS (Moms of Preschoolers) group here in Huntington Beach at Grace Lutheran church started praying for you guys in April when all this started. I'm on the steering committee and we've been doing "The Purpose Driven Life" as a weekly bible study over the summer, and your family has been in our weekly group prayers as well, and all are just praying for a transplant soon.

I keep you all in my own prayers daily, and your message is just proof that you never know who your story will touch, or just how far it will go. You both are pulling incredible strength right now, living through what no parent would ever want to. I have learned in my own life that God does use all experiences we have at some point, and I know He will be able to use your family's in the future to help others have the happy ending that I know is coming soon for you!
