Minutes before walking out the door...We’re hoping it’s not a false alarm, but won’t know until we get there. We are checking in to UCLA at 11pm tonight for liver transplant surgery. Unfortunately, Carter woke up at 3am this morning and didn’t feel great but went back to sleep until 6:30am. When he did wake up, he was congested with a runny nose and a slight cough (but no fever). We called CHOC to see if we should come in and have any testing done. This afternoon they did the nasal suction to get a sample of Carter’s mucus and will make sure it isn’t anything serious (but won’t have results until tomorrow). He’s been a little needier today and you can tell he doesn’t feel great. Needless to say, this information has all been passed along to the transplant team and they are fine with everything as long as Carter does not have a fever. It’s not the ideal shape we were hoping Carter would be in to go into such a serious surgery, but we have faith in the amazing doctors at UCLA. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE keep Carter and our family in your thoughts and prayers!!! It’s going to be a long few days! And our thoughts are with the donor’s family as well. God Bless You!!

my college housemate has a little girl who is 4 and had a heart transplant last year. she is doing wonderfully. it was an amazing roller coaster of ups and downs. i think the biggest lesson that we all learned was to hold tight to truth. it is easy to let our minds wander, but God's word is the only solid truth. He loves you. And He wants every situation to bring him glory. praying that this situation does with your unwavering trust and Carter's super speedy recovery.
