Leading the chargeWell, one month has passed since Carter was added to the liver transplant list. I think Matt and I thought things would move a little faster than this and that Carter would be transplanted by this point. There was some glitch and Carter’s status on the list wasn’t able to be moved up on Friday like we were hoping. UNOS (United Network for Organ Sharing) needs to have blood work results less than two days old. This shouldn’t have been a problem on Friday because Carter had his blood drawn on Wednesday. However, CHOC didn’t pull bilirubin levels and some other ones UCLA needed. We don’t know who is at fault, but it all comes back down to having two hospitals have to communicate. Needless to say, we are going to CHOC tomorrow to get blood work done. By the end of the day tomorrow, we should be status 1B on the liver transplant list. UCLA also let us know a little boy that is first on the list in status 1B for Type O blood has had four false alarms this week! So, as difficult as it will be, we’ll have to prepare ourselves for that scenario.
Bennett had a great night with Grammy last night. She brought him home around 1pm today because she had golf plans, and Bennett sounded even more congested. Matt immediately took him swimming to get him out of the house. Then, both boys napped at home. When Bennett woke up, he and Matt went walking down on the beach and stayed out of the house as much as possible this evening. It’s hard to keep the boys apart when they want to play together so much. At least Bennett seems to understand the reasoning.
Praying for Bennett's speedy recovery, that all the congestion dry up and leave in the mighty name of Jesus. Praying all blood work gets done and both hospitals get on the same page in the mighty name of Jesus.
ReplyDeleteHang in there, this will all happen in God's timing, which never seems to be in our time! Romans 8:28 "And we know that ALL things work together for the good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." God doesn't lie and His word never returns void....so therefore both hospitals will work together for the good of not only your family but other families who lives are dependent upon them. Carter was created with the love of God and the love for God already implanted within him, so God will be faithful to this innocent and will arrange & make things work for Carter's good. Keep the faith dear ones....God has already heard the prayer of His saints and already has the answer in motion...when we have done all that we can, we stand and patiently wait. Many hugs & many blessings! Standing in faith beside you....
So frustrating for you guys, but I have a feeling the real call will come soon. What a great sport big brother Bennett is being! Sounds like he is getting to do a lot of fun things with Dad though! We'll be praying he gets well soon so the boys can play together before "the call"!
