AFP Results Are In Again…

Carter is awesome!

On the eve of Carter’s second birthday, we got some great news. Carter’s AFP levels have dropped from 59,800 to 2,200!!!! We can hardly believe it!! The tumor is shrinking!! We’ll be able to see just how much at his CT scan on Monday. WE ARE THRILLED!!! Thank you for all those SHRINK, SHRINK, SHRINK thoughts and prayers! They are working, keep it up!! The oncologist told us Carter’s AFP level won’t get in the normal range until post-surgery now. So, I don’t know if we’ll get any more dramatic drops until after surgery. We are just so happy the chemo is doing its job.

Now, we just need Carter’s white blood cell counts to start going up, and have him completely recover before starting this next round. His fever is gone (as of 10pm last night). Although, his appetite is not great in the hospital so it will be a bummer to have him eating so little for a week (if we aren’t able to go home before starting treatment again). We’re just taking it day by day. So far nothing has shown up in his blood cultures, which is great. And today Carter is back to his old “hospital routine” of flirting with all the nurses again. So, he must be feeling a little better!
