Father's Day

Luckiest dad on the planet!

We had a nice night going to dinner with Bennett, while Grammy was sleeping at the hospital with Carter. They had an okay night. Carter wanted to turn on the TV at 4:30am, and Grammy agreed! Sucker! Luckily, they went back to sleep for a little bit.

Matt was off early this morning to golf, and he had a fun time with his friends. Thank you guys for getting Matt out! Bennett and Mom headed over to the hospital early with donuts and coffee. Carter ate a couple of bites of donut, which gave his pretzel and Cheerios habit a break for a bit.

The doctor said our plan is for Carter to stay a couple more days. We want to go home, but want to be ready as well. Carter had one oral med (pepcid) today and kept it down. A couple of the other oral meds are mixed in with his TPN (IV nutrients), so it's kind of nice because it will cut back on us giving him so many oral meds at home. We also stopped doing the constant cool mist to help Carter's cough.

Hopefully, it will go away sometime soon. Tomorrow the doctor wants to get a consult with a GI doctor and a consult with a nutritionist. Hopefully, we are working our way to get home on Tuesday, so we'll have a week at home before Round 4 starts and we are back again!

(BTW, the video above is Bennett playing Wii Boxing...classic!)

Happy Father's Day everyone!

  1. Sitting here reading your update with my 10 year old grandson Christian. He looked at all the pictures and we talked about what is happening to Carter. A great time to learn about cancer and how we can help others fight this terrible disease. So happy you had a nice day and we will be thinking about you during this week. Big hugs to all the Kipps and let's all say an extra prayer that the nutrition kicks in and your little guy can put on some weight. xoxo Cindy and John

  5. Praise God, Praise God, Praise God on Carter's improvements!!! Father I thank You that all nausea has left Carter's body and that You have fixed the problem with him keeping his meds down. Father I thank You right now for Carter's appetite returning and the weight he lost is returning in the mighty name of Jesus. Father I ask that this next round of Chemo have less adverse affects in Carter but does mighty damage to the remaining cancer cells within his body. Target that chemo like a scud missile to take out the remnants of cancer in the mighty name of Jesus. Holy Spirit pour out fresh joy upon, in and through Carter, Matt, Kara, Bennett & Grandma for the joy of the Lord is their strength. Bless this family richly for their perseverance throughout this trial. Touch this precious new baby, I pray he/she is a happy healthy baby in the mighty name of Jesus. I know Carter is going to be an awesome big brother....he has a great example of one in brother Bennett. Many hugs dearest Kipps...CWL sends their loves & prayers!
