Happy Birthday Carter!

Carter blowing a kiss to all his supporters!

Carter is 2!!! Unfortunately Carter spent his first day as a 2 year old in the hospital. But it was not an uneventful day. Carter woke up at 6:00 am asking to go on a walk around the oncology floor. He slept fairly well and seems to be much livelier after yesterday’s blood transfusion. We remain in the hospital to continue to monitor his blood counts and any further fevers. So far we have been fever free and the blood cultures are negative for infections. It seems as though we may stay on track with our next round of chemo but it could mean staying at CHOC through the week.

Back to our day. Carter nibbled on a few things for breakfast and even received some doughnut holes from Dad. He got some wonderful “Happy Birthday” singing from friends and family, especially Bennett’s ‘over the phone’ version which included, “Carter, are you so happy to be 2 years old?” With which Carter replied, “Yeeaaah”. He also got a few presents dropped off at the hospital and house. Carter’s Northern California family came by to visit, including Uncle Kevin and his Grandma. This afternoon, seconds after waking from his nap, all the nurses on the oncology floor came in to sing “Happy Birthday” to Carter. It was so sweet. They brought in a big birthday banner, a gift bag and did their best to make this a special day for Carter all day. This is an amazing group and we’re so thrilled they did this for Carter. Sure we wish we were home but CHOC has become our second home and the staff has made us feel very comfortable.

Thank you all for the wonderful b-day wishes for Carter. We are so appreciative for your continued support. Keep those positive thoughts coming!

  9. Praise God, praise God, praise God his cultures came back negative for infection and his fever is gone! Thank you Father God!!!! CWL (Church Without Limits) is keeping sweet Carter & your entire family in prayer. I keep giving weekly updates on how this young warrior is fairing. Hang in there Carter...this battle belongs to the Lord and I have read the book and God wins out every time, Hallelujah!

Props to the staff at CHOC for making Carter's birthday better with the gift bag and such. Stinks to be sick on your birthday let alone in the hospital. I am sure ya'll will make it up later when he gets home. Many hugs from your long distance prayer warriors in Indiana!
