The boys are back!Well, we realized just how much we’ve been in the hospital over the past month. And it’s always nice to be home! After talking about the possible discharge all morning, they got the ANC count in at around noon and it was 72. Still low, but going up so they were letting us go home. Then, for some reason we ended up waiting around all day for new meds, discharge papers, etc. We finally got home around 6:15pm, right before our Restaurants on the Run (chicken, pita and hummus…can you guess who requested it?!) dinner arrived. Carter and Bennett were immediately running around like crazy kids, and so happy to be home and be together. We were afraid Carter was over-doing it. His legs were giving out on him a few times, so we made him slow down. He hasn’t had much of an opportunity to walk for two weeks, and even before then he was so sick he didn’t want to walk. When we’re in the hospital he constantly has his IV pole attached to him (as do all the kids on the oncology floor), so it always takes a little while for him to realize he is free. Tonight it took him no time at all. He was so happy.
Luckily, Carter went to sleep well in his crib too. Hopefully, he has a restful night. Tomorrow we are out of the house by 6:45am and have a big day at UCLA. Think good thoughts that the MRA/V goes smoothly, and the general anesthesia doesn’t cause infection, fever, etc. We’re also hoping we’ll have a chance to meet with the surgeons afterward. Otherwise, it will involve another trip up there this week (which we’d rather not do). We’re hoping they’ll be able to take us on time for our scan at 9:30, and it won’t be a terribly long day like last time. We’ll keep you posted. For now, we are SO happy to be home with a happy and healthy (all things considered) boy!
I love seeing those cheeks looking so chubby. I will be saying lots of prayers for tomorrow!
