Bennett's puppy faceWell, Mom and Dad were in and out of Carter’s room all night. One of these days we’ll play a little tough love when he’ll just have to cry and go to sleep on his own, but it’s not going to be while he’s vomiting from chemo treatment. He just wanted to be held again all day today. Around lunchtime he said he wanted a pb&j sandwich, so I went into the kitchen to make one. He followed me in and threw up all over the floor and down his shirt…twice. So, we took him upstairs because we had to do a Broviac dressing change due to it getting wet. I wish we could teach a two-year old to run to the bathroom and get sick in the toilet. There is no warning whatsoever. Poor guy just feels miserable. He slept on and off all day as well, so his body must be exhausted.
I’ve decided to have somewhat of a different outlook on Carter vomiting. Yes, it kills Matt and me to see our baby having to go through this and if we could take it away in a second we would. But now we know the chemo is really working and doing its job. His body has to excrete the tumor in some way or another. So, all the sweat, tears, dirty diapers and vomiting is releasing this awful disease from Carter’s body. We just can’t wait for it to be GONE!
Matt took Bennett outside to play with some neighbors today. And while Matt was chatting with the other dads, our 6-year old neighbor painted Bennett’s face like a dog. Bennett was so proud. When he came into the house Carter thought it was pretty scary and said, “No Benny!” And Bennett said, “Is Carter allergic to dogs?” Bennett is constantly keeping Matt and I entertained through this whole crazy experience.
Grandma flew back to Northern California this morning. Wii had a good week with her, and are so appreciative of all her help, love and support!! Bennett absolutely adores his Grandma and was sad the second she left. And talking to her this evening, she cried the whole flight home too. So, maybe wii will have to get her visit again soon!! Oh, by the way, Matt and Bennett are soooooo excited about the Nintendo Wii! Thanks so much Grandma!!!
Let’s hope for sunshine in and out of this house tomorrow!!!
OK now...Carter is going to wake up and feel a little better in the morning. Love your new attitude about the cancer leaving his body by purging itself. Makes sense to me! Let's all pray that Carter and Mom and Dad all feel refreshed in the morning...sounds like the little "puppy" feels great already. Please give this wonderful family a break and let's have a peaceful Sunday. They all deserve it! Big hugs to all of you...hang on!

You guys are truly amazing. You are so right, that chemo is working and the bad stuff has to go some where - and if puke is how it gets out, so be it. Bennett is a star! I love his sayings and funny ways of keeping things real. Hang in there, Sunday will hopefully give you all some relief. XOXO Daralyn
ReplyDeleteYour perspective is awesome and you are so right--it's got to get out somehow. Here in Huntington it's a beautiful sunny day (goodbye "June gloom"), so hopefully it is over there in NP for you guys too! Thinking of you all~
