Absolutely exhausted!

Carter's new hat

The boys take a quick moment for a photo

Well, it’s nice to be home…but, being home right after a chemo cycle begins also means a needy Carter who doesn’t feel great. We are back to our naptime and bedtime games of Carter not wanting to put his head down, throwing his pillow out of his bed and then crying for his pillow, cover and no covers, and on and on and on. We try leaving the room and he becomes absolutely hysterical and inconsolable. And if we stay he is manic as well. I know it’s because he doesn’t feel good, and often it’s easiest to take it out on Mom. It’s very tiring physically and emotionally though. We will NOT miss this chemo recovery process AT ALL! And we’ll be thrilled to not be on the steroids one of these days too!

These are the days we have to constantly remind ourselves that we are almost to the finish line with this cancer business. The days are incredibly long when Carter wants to be held and won’t eat anything you fix for him and putting him to bed takes over an hour. Tomorrow has got to be a better day.

  1. While our average day includes 2% of the activities that yours does, please know that Harris also throws his pillow out before bed, goes through 5 blankets before finding the right one, often refuses dinner after he asked for it and it was made. The twos on top of it all can't be ideal :). But, this cancer business is almost over - growing pains will then seem like a breeze. XOXO Daralyn

  2. Love to read that sign that CHOC posted. Way to go Carter. What a hero you are man. You have done so well through these months. I will never complain of a soar throat or pain again, thanks to you. What unbelieveable courage you have shown us. My prayers to you this week that you will be bouncing back soon and feeling like your old self. So glad Grandma is there with you all.

Big Big hugs coming your way to ALL THE KIPPS.

    Love, Auntie Tink

  4. As the man who ate the beans said "This too shall pass!" Keep your chin up and your spirit high. It won't be long you will have the old Carter back....running through the house with a grin on his face and a spring in his step. This is just one of the final speedbumps and it will get eaiser. Many hugs & many more blessings! PS Carter looks cute as a bucket head!

  5. That sounds completely frustrating and exhausting....and probably the fact that he's two doesn't help either!!! Thankfully each day brings a new beginning and hopefully today is much better.
