Pretty happy kid considering he's in the hospital from a fever, finishing chemo and has a broken leg!After a long night, Carter and Matt finally got a room on the oncology floor and settled in around midnight last night. This morning Carter’s meds weren’t ready at 8am. The nurse forgot to order them the night before. Luckily, today we had one of Carter’s favorite nurses…who also happens to be a nurse at UCLA half the week. She is familiar with liver transplant patients and knows the importance of having Prograf between 8-8:30am. She realized Carter didn’t have it yet and was scrambling around to get his meds. It’s nice when you have nurses that really care about your child’s well being. They got them in time this morning, but now it is 8:30pm and Matt has to track down the night nurse for meds again.
Carter and Matt are trying to entertain themselves as best they can. They are in an isolation room, since Carter went in with a fever. So, they can’t leave the room at all. And we know how much Carter likes walking around the floor flirting with the nurses and visiting the playroom.
The blood cultures so far are negative for infection and Carter’s fever went away last night. As long as both of these remain the same, the doctor said she may let Carter go home tomorrow. He will still be back for outpatient chemo on Friday, but it would be nice for them to sleep at home.
Yikes! Time for more blessings! There have been so many blessings along the way to heal that amazing little warrior and send him on his way. We all say thank you God for those... and now the Kipp family is ready for more, especially this Friday!!

Look at that face...so adorable. I hope he can come home today and you can have a nice weekend. It is so scary with the flu warnings everywhere it will be a challenge to keep him healthy this winter. Lot's of washing...poor Bennett is going to wash his hands raw! John has a huge purell at his office entrance and they wipe down everything every morning since Catou is undergoing chemo and radiation now. Clean, clean, clean to try and keep her healthy too. You know we are always thinking about your family and we are so proud of your positive spirit. Keep fighting the good fight...it will get better and I know you know that. ReplyDeletePraying health and strength over in and through Carter. Yep one happy camper inspite of being in the hospital....I bet he will be a happy camper for most of his life. The type of personality that doesn't sweat the small stuff and doesn't let much bother him. Such a cutie!
