Well, it’s 9pm and all three boys are asleep without a fight. SO nice! Okay, I think I jinxed it…Carter just started crying. Oh boy. Today was a better day at least. Carter, surprisingly, made it all night last night without waking up. Then, Matt and Carter headed out to UCLA bright and early this morning. Carter’s blood work results were great. He isn’t quite so dehydrated anymore, although we still need to push fluids. His liver levels looked great though. They had been elevated the past couple weeks. The doctors weren’t too concerned, but were watching them closely. The chemo gets processed in the liver, so these levels were expected to elevate a bit through these rounds. Today they were right in the normal range again though.
Despite being two and all the “roid rages”, we are lucky Carter is such a patient little boy. He has already adapted pretty well to being stuck on the sofa or the floor playing, since it’s pretty hard for him to maneuver around with his cast. Plus, he’s used to having to sit patiently while getting all his meds and central line care. He has mastered dancing while sitting down too (watch video).
And Matt and I are just reminding ourselves to breathe and get through the day as best we can. There are definitely glimpses of light and laughter, and we know there is more to come in the upcoming days. Matt said the other day, “I just don’t remember when life seemed simpler for us.” It seems like a long time ago, but we will get there again soon!
Davis is one month old today! We know as the weeks go by with him, the easier things will get too!
Happy One Month Birthday Davis! So cute! I just adored the video...Bennett playing rockstar with the guitar dancing and having a good time jamming...Carter playing the drums! So cute!!! They both look so happy! Praying for simpler times to come for your family...a season of rest and growth. Many hugs & many more blessings!
ReplyDeleteGreat dancing boys! Sounds like things are better and yes, it is true, as the weeks fly by (hopefully) things will get easier with everyone, especially baby Davis I would think. We're still sending our prayers and big hugs for everyone!
