Being a champ!

Still smiling

Carter and Matt had an early morning heading out to CHOC for blood work. Luckily, it was a pretty fast appointment, so when they got home we began our morning routine. Later today, we got some of Carter’s blood work results back. His liver levels are a little high, so we are adjusting the Prograf (anti-rejection drug) again. This is something we continuously have to alter. Eventually, we are hopeful we’ll be able to maintain the same level and his body will adjust to it. Currently, chemo and his ANC levels going up and down are certain to alter the way his body is absorbing the medications.

On a couple positive notes, Carter is taking his meds like a super star. Truly! He comes running over when Matt tells him it’s time for his Atovaquone. Carter says, “Yeah, I love Atovaquone!” He’s too funny. And his appetite has been great. We love to see this heading into the next round of chemo. We are expecting him to be nauseated and completely wiped out again. It will be hard to see (as usual), but this time we know it will be the LAST time. We can’t believe it!!

  1. The daily routine yesterday was so unbelievable I couldn't find words to comment on it. Wow only came to mind! Today being reminded that you are headed into your last round of chemo is so heartwarming and I am thrilled for the Kipp family. To say you have been brave is an understatement. You and Matt probably really feel like adults now...a crisis will do that. But you have the hardest part behind you and your life will now be about making wonderful memories with your boys. Congratulations! Big hugs to the whole family! xoxo Cindy and John

  3. I am glad to hear he is eating well and taking the meds like a rockstar!! Great work Carter!! We are thrilled that this is the LAST round of Chemo coming up! yeah! I also can't believe your schedule that I read yesterday! It is completely crazy and especially considering you have other activities for Bennett and doctors appts. for Carter. You guys are doing an extremely impressive job handling all of this and are reaching the light at the end of the tunnel!!! We are sending our prayers still for smooth sailing and hopefully restful evenings ahead.
    We love you,
    Shelley H.

  8. What a sweet precious face....he has grown quite a bit since I first started following this blog! How great that he is taking his meds without problems..it's like he knows he needs it so why fight it..such maturity for someone so young. The last round is in sight and CWL is praying for it to go quickly without any problems or side affects this time. We are praying the ANC levels to healthy range and the liver levels down to the healthy range. We keep speaking healthy, joy, strength and blessings not only for Carter but for the whole family. Many hugs, many blessings!
