Infection

Your big brother misses you Carter!

Well, we've had blood cultures done from a fever every round of chemo and they have always come back negative. Today, however, one of the blood cultures showed an infection in Carter's central line. This is not good. They started him on an antibiotic they have to run for three days. Hopefully, this will do the trick and it will clear up. Carter's ANC is zero (and was yesterday too), so he is more apt to get an infection because his body can't fight it right now. We need this infection to go away. We want him home and feeling better as soon as possible. As it is, he is already going to have to be readmitted for Round 6 a week from Thursday. Matt, I know how hard it is on you to have to be there as his sole advocate around the clock. You're doing great. Thanks for being there for Carter! Love you guys!!

  3. Darn it...was hoping all was calm on the home front. Matt, you are a super hero...I mean it! It is so brutal to be in the hospital for those long nights of waking up to check Carters temperature and other vitals. Very long nights so we are sending lots of love and peace your way. Carter you are doing a great job and we just know tomorrow will be a better day. Big hugs Kara...you are almost done with the chemo and then it should be smooth sailing. Hang on! xoxo Cindy and John
