Brotherly bond

Who can play the kazoo loudest?

It will be interesting to see how the dynamics change in our family once the baby is born. I am hoping Bennett and Carter stay as close as ever. They really have a neat relationship. I do think the arrival of this baby will be good for Carter and make him feel adept. He will probably appreciate a little attention on someone else for a change. And I know Bennett will like a little attention on someone other than Carter. We received something in the mail the other day and Bennett asked, “Is that for me?” I told him no. And he said, “Oh ya, it’s for Carter.” And I said, “No, it’s for Baby Brother.” And Bennett gave me a huge smile, like he was so relieved it wasn’t for Carter. So, I don’t think he’ll mind the baby getting a little attention. It will be heart-warming when the three of them will actually play together. Oh, we will have conquered so much by then!

Carter still has a slight runny nose and is a bit congested. At least he has until Thursday to fully recuperate. His appetite has been awesome this week though. I am no longer asking him what he wants to eat because it gets us no where. I am just fixing something, and he usually eats it. If he sees Bennett eating, I can convince him to eat it too. His energy level is great. He is walking and “his version” of running all over the house. He has been climbing up and down the stairs a few times! Of course, he just does it during the day because at night on our stairs there is a shadow at the top of the first landing and Carter says it is “too scaaawy!” He really is improving every day though. We are so grateful his recovery has been smooth so far. This is what we had tears of fear, joy, anxiousness, etc, etc. for before his transplant surgery. Now, the next obstacle will be chemo this week. We’re still reminding ourselves to take it one day at a time at this point.

Have a safe and happy Labor Day everyone!

  1. It is so wonderful to read an update and it sounds so darn normal...praise God for that! Tuesday is the big day and I know you will have an easy delivery with a beautiful and calm little boy. He has to know you have had your fill of drama and just want to bring home a relaxed little baby to add to your special family. Enjoy your last day as a family of 4...from Tuesday on you and Matt are outnumbered. Be afraid be very afraid! Big hugs and joy all around. xoxo Cindy and John

  2. CWL is continuing to keep your lovely family in prayer....it is part of the fine print clause...once you get on the list you are forever on the list! Praise God things are getting back to normal. Praying that Munchkin will transition smoothly into the family....that Carter & Bennett will include him into this bond that the 2 of them presently share. So who won the kazoo contest? My bet is on Bennett! ;o) Many blessings, many hugs!

  5. Can't wait to see pics of the newest little guy, he will be a perfect addition...and in a bit of time you'll have the Three Amigos to play with, care for and hug/kiss...each one an integral part. God is good.
